About Do It Outdoors "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." John Muir
Proprietor - Ian Macfarlane (+Son)
Bushcraft Practitioner BASP First Aid Trained. I am an outdoors professional who over the last 20yrs has gathered a diverse range of skills and interests. I have found that as I have aged I have become more aware of the wonders of nature and have found bushcraft is a very effective tool in communicating natures importance to the world.
Bushcraft is a limitless
subject area with many areas of speciality making sure that a lifetime
is not enough to master it all. It also complements my
other interests such as Canadian Canoeing, (I hope to introduce
this activity at a later date), Fly Fishing, Hill walking and Mountain
Biking. My vision is to bring people closer to nature
through outdoor pursuits and just maybe closer to themselves. History For 4 years I volunteered as a Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition organiser and for 7 yrs was a Scout Leader with my local group , 54th Perthshire. I have also worked with Fairbridge (A company working in deprived areas with Youths in the Outdoors). In addition I have worked with a large Corporate Team Building Company and spent 2 seasons working as a Sailing and Windsurfing Instructor . Between all this work I gained an Honours degree in Risk Management at the Caledonian University My own expeditions have taken me from Canadian Canoe adventures in Scotland to Ski Mountaineering in the Alps. The company has a £5 million Civil Liability Insurance Policy which protects the business against disastrous consequences of liability for loss injury or damage, and includes the actions of all involved in the business.
