10 Ways to Stay within the Law

  1. Try not to carry a knife saw or axe at all.
  2. Remember that "Just in case " is not an excuse that will work in court of law.
  3. You must have reasonable and practicable cause to carry one.
  4. Carry a knife that is not an aggressive looking one
  5. Ensure you have permission to carry a knife if you are on private ground.
  6. Try to have written documentation or proof that you need/needed to carry the knife.
  7. Whilst in a public place, if you have the need to carry a sharp object, make it as inaccessible as possible.
  8. Do not hide the knife under you shirt
  9. If you are under 18 do not carry a knife at all in public. Use it in situ with an adult supervising.
  10. Use a knife that is relevant to the activity you wish to carry out.  A machete is not a great tool for fishing.
